About the role
This is a fully onsite position supporting the Commonwealth LNG (CWLNG) Project near Lake Charles, Louisiana. Working onsite is a condition of employment. If you are not willing or able to work onsite in Louisiana, please do not apply. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available for this position.
Responsibilities
- Forecasting and advising on the required levels of material control required, and the appropriate staffing requirements to support the project.
- Actively participate in the development of project strategies.
- Approach to purchasing critical equipment and engineered materials.
- Use of existing Technip / Client purchase agreements.
- Bulk material quantification - takeoff / estimate.
- Timing for first bulk material takeoff and subsequent takeoffs.
- Approach to the supply of material for prefabrication.
- Schedule implications / expediting support.
- Material and Equipment delivery / receiving.
- Inspection philosophy.
- Approach to material shorts, changes, and surplus.
- OS&DSpare parts philosophy-, including commonality of equipment with existing plant.
- Review and approve site purchase bid tabulations, as necessary.
- Purchasing material for temporary facilities.
- Extent of site warehousing and potential use of supplier Consignment inventory.
- Role of contractors in purchasing material.
- Multi-dimensional, material control level and structure.
- Reception and unloading of incoming shipments.
- Performance of detailed item control, verifying against project P. O’s & supplier’s packing list.
- Arranging for the technical inspection and preservation of equipment and material with VPM, Engineering, Sub-contractors, Client.
- Notifying Logistics / Traffic and preparing and issuing overage, shortage, and damage reports.
- Prepare and issue site reception reports.
- Establishing project-specific material management procedures (including material control and planning and supplier quality surveillance).
- Train and mentor less experienced personnel.
- Ensuring that the material management team has access to the project baseline, understands and aligns to the project baseline, and executes and delivers to the project baseline.
- Aid the expediting VPM group as necessary to expedite items required for construction.
- Holding construction team meetings (management, superintendents, foremen, planners, material control) on a regular basis to determine the work that can be performed and optimize the use of lifting equipment, shared resources, and material allocation.
- Contribute to development / update of the department procedures, practices, tools and know-how.
- Establish reporting procedures for onsite purchasing.
- Controlling materials to comply with programmed construction planning.
- Ensure Issuing material to construction works contractors to support constructability.
- To completely implement the material management plan, including the workshare and automation components, and the material responsibility matrix.
- Negotiate commercial arrangements with suppliers when necessary.
- Ensure that proper material management systems are implemented on the site.
- Interact with the construction managers, discipline leaders, area managers, works contractors and with the client, to reach the objectives through alignment meetings that ensure effective material delivery to the work fronts.
- Maintains and promotes Technip and project specific safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure coordination and monitoring of the data between SMAT and or third-party material control system to ensure consistency and integration accuracy.
- Controlling materials to comply with programmed construction planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in material management, logistics, or supply chain within construction, EPC, or energy industry projects.
- Proven experience managing site material operations, including warehousing, logistics, procurement, and material control.
- Experience working on construction or industrial project sites with direct interface to construction teams.
- Strong understanding of material management processes, including receiving, issuing, tracking, and reconciliation.
- Experience with material management systems and tools (e.g., SMAT or equivalent).
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in large-scale EPC or offshore/onshore construction projects.
- Experience with supplier consignment inventory and vendor coordination.
- Familiarity with procurement, expediting, and contract interfaces.
- Knowledge of construction equipment and site logistics planning.
- Exposure to digital material tracking or integrated project systems.

- Understanding of site logistics, warehousing, and material flow optimization.
- Knowledge of OS&D processes, back charges, and material reconciliation practices.
- Ability to align material management with construction sequencing and execution planning.
- Strong coordination across construction, procurement, logistics, and project teams.
- Ability to identify material risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Strong leadership capability in managing site-based teams.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in material tracking and reporting.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
