Duties and Responsibilities

  • Travels to customer locations for a variety of purposes including: to install purchased equipment or parts, address warranties, scan existing trucks for OEM information
  • Works with the Engineering Department, Sales Department, and additional management to determine trip objectives
  • Completes and submits daily log of time, challenges, accomplishments, etc.
  • Communicates all challenges back to the office in a timely fashion
  • Accurately clocks to jobs for job costing data in the Finance Department to assist the price quoting process
  • Maintains all equipment and tools
  • Welds from all positions, e.g. flat, vertical, overhead
  • Visually inspects work, grind and rework as needed and requested to meet Company quality standards
  • Makes any necessary modifications to design
  • Alerts Production Manager of any discrepancies on Engineering prints initially
  • Reports any inventory shortfalls to Production Manager
  • Completes daily pickup of area and remains responsible for cleanliness of work area
  • Completes material handling functions as needed, e.g. bringing materials into the building, operating a fork truck
  • Always adheres to all safety protocols including wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Assists the Finance Department with allocating timekeeping to job codes, operations, work centers, etc.
  • Requests and attends meetings with PHIL and Welarco associates as necessary to review issues that arise in the field, e.g. design changes
  • Assists in training and developing additional associates to complete field work
  • Works to best of ability to provide the customer with an above-satisfactory and professional interaction
  • Actively listens to all customer concerns and works to resolve them
  • Maintains a working electrical and hydraulic knowledge
  • Seeks additional help from the Production Manager as necessary

During Product Installations

  • Assists the provided crew in answering questions and providing installation instruction
  • Remains actively involved and hands-on in the installation
  • Assists the crew in laying out the purchased equipment or parts, assembling, and welding
  • Unless discussed with management, stays for the completion of the installation project
  • Ensures all questions and concerns are resolved
  • Provides the customer with a form to submit installation feedback
  • If a fabricator is involved, ensures that the fabricator completes daily time sheets

During Product Warranties

  • Asks appropriate questions to Welarco's Production Department and PHIL's Engineering and Sales Departments as needed to become well-versed in the project and potential problems
  • Works with PHIL and Welarco management to determine a plan of action for warranty issues
  • Quickly and accurately corrects warranty issues
  • Continually provides updates to PHIL and Welarco management
  • Ensures all questions and concerns are resolved

During Scanning Trips

  • Uses FARO 3D-measurement scanning equipment and additional tools to retrieve OEM dimensions for the Engineering Department
  • Ensures FARO equipment is always properly handled and stored
  • Ensures FARO equipment is checked out and in from the Engineering Department with the proper documentation
  • Collaborates with the Engineering Department to ensure the FARO equipment is properly insured while travelling

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education equivalent
  • Two-year maintenance or welding degree PLUS 3+ years of relevant experience OR High-school welding program with 3+ years of relevant experience OR 8+ years of applicable experience
  • Availability to accommodate frequent travel, both domestically and internationally, with and without advanced notice
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental qualifications of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Availability to work standard hours and overtime as outlined in job offer
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality when dealing with privileged information
  • Must demonstrate print and welding ability
  • Ability to always represent the Company in a polite, friendly, and professional manner
