What You Will Do

  • Perform daily field inspections of directional drilling, trenching, and conduit installation activities to verify compliance with project plans, permits, and specifications.
  • Monitor construction methods, materials, and workmanship for adherence to standards and quality expectations.
  • Review and confirm underground utility locates, bore paths, and as-built documentation.
  • Observe safety practices and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Document daily construction progress, site conditions, quantities installed, and any deviations or issues encountered.
  • Communicate findings, deficiencies, and recommended corrective actions to project management and contractors.
  • Coverage of local municipalities, utility owners, and permitting agencies as needed.
  • Verify restoration, traffic control, and final site cleanup meet all project and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Support the closeout process by reviewing redlines, as-builts, photos, and punch list items.

What You Will Need

  • 3+ years of experience in construction inspection or field supervision for underground utility, HDD, or civil infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of directional drilling operations, utility installation standards, and restoration practices.
  • Familiarity with DOT, municipal, and environmental regulations governing right-of-way construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, permits, and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital inspection/reporting tools (e.g., Fieldwire, SiteDocs, Fulcrum, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel daily to multiple job sites.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.

Work Environment

  • Primarily field-based role with daily travel to active construction sites.
  • Must be comfortable around heavy equipment and active drilling/construction operations.
  • The work environment is exposed to a range of adverse conditions, such as extreme heat and cold, wet conditions, airborne dust, and excessively loud noises.
  • Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head, 50 lbs.
  • Sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity.
  • The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require basic safety precautions.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Travel regularly to job sites across New Jersey and nearby states (PA, DE, NY); occasional overnight travel may be required.
