Job Summary
Collier County seeks a Field Inspector II to oversee construction projects and ensure compliance with engineering codes and specifications.
About the Role
This position reports to the Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) section of the Transportation Engineering Division. The Field Inspector II reviews and inspects construction projects to ensure compliance with state and local laws and approved plans.
Responsibilities
- Performs field inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and approved plans.
- Interprets and enforces applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Provides technical assistance and resolves issues with contractors, engineers, and property owners.
- Coordinates inspection activities with other County divisions and external agencies.
- Reviews and inspects construction plans, specifications, and documents.
- Conducts inspections of various aspects of construction projects, including drainage systems, water lines, and utilities.
- Inspects and finalizes projects for preliminary and final acceptance.
- Maintains records and logs of inspection activities.
- Ensures compliance with safety procedures and maintains a safe work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five (5) years of related experience.
- Fingerprinting required.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with applicable endorsements.
- FDOT Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) certification preferred.
- CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level 1 certification within 6 months of hire preferred.
- Familiarity with FDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction.
