Field Inspector
About the role
We are seeking highly skilled Field Inspectors to manage and oversee the commissioning of elevators across various MTA locations in New York City, with a primary focus on Queens and Brooklyn. Ideal candidates will have a background in Mechanical Engineering or Elevator systems, though this is not a strict requirement. The role involves ensuring elevators meet all regulatory standards and function according to design specifications.
Role & Responsibilities
- Management of all commissioning tasks outlined in this Technical Scope of Services to place elevators into service in accordance with the project schedule.
- Achieve, validate, test, and document the performance of installed elevators and their integrated components and systems so that they comply with safety regulations, design intent and specifications.
- Lead and manage the commissioning team including representatives from the Design-Build Contractor, subcontractors, and MTA C&D units (MTA C&D Commissioning Authority, MTA Office of Code Compliance, E&E, OSS, EMD, etc.) working as a cohesive unit to assure that all the steps in the commissioning process are completed and the objectives are met.
- Submission of test procedures, performance curves, test report forms, O&M manuals, and other data required in the applicable specifications for all operational tests and cross-system communication and functioning.
- Assure the accessibility and maintainability of all equipment by identifying and reviewing the arrangement drawings to be prepared by the Design-Build Contractor, and ordering changes as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Previous MTA Experience.
- PMG123 Certification preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in the performance of elevator installations, testing, inspections, and acceptance.
- Familiarity with all commissioning aspects of the Design-Build Contract documents including PRDCs, drawings, specifications, relevant codes and standards, and manufacturer requirements.
- Experience in managerial and administrative areas such as planning, scheduling, coordination, commissioning or construction activities, and leading commissioning teams.
- Experience in the development of commissioning specifications, testing procedures, protocols, logs, deficiency, and punch list reports.
- Experience in the delivery of O&M manuals and training materials.
