Field Hockey Coach

GENERAL FUNCTION

The coach/instructor is responsible for providing high level/age appropriate instruction to the participants of the program. He/she develops strategic plans and implements them according to the set objective. The coach/instructor is also responsible for supervision of other staff needed to run the event.

Responsibilities

• Develop game plans, and make strategic decisions during matches
• Assessing player skills, providing feedback, and mentoring players to improve their performance
• Developing and implementing training programs and practice sessions
• Meet with the Sports & Recreation Director/Field Hockey Director to discuss plans and upcoming events
• Building a positive team culture, fostering teamwork, and managing team dynamics
• Aid in teaching field hockey skills and strategies to players, providing both individual and team instruction
• Assist in promoting and marketing events
• Supervise players, and foster a positive team environment
• Perform other duties set by Sports and Recreation Director/Field Hockey Director
• Effectively communicate with players, parents, officials, and other coaches
• Ensure the safety of players during practices and games

Qualifications

• High school diploma and experience working in the desired field
• College coaching and/or playing experience strongly encouraged but not required
