Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic based out of our Turkey Creek Landfill in Alvarado, Texas. Ability to travel to multiple sites is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services.
  • Perform inspections, diagnosis, and repair of powertrain, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, forklifts, and man-lifts.
  • Perform power washing on heavy equipment during routine preventative maintenance.
  • Complete required paperwork utilizing equipment maintenance software, documenting parts usage and accounting for repair times.
  • Review and complete repairs identified on Daily Inspection Reports.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns that may occur in the transfer station.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Participate in equipment operator training on best practices for maintenance and proper use of equipment.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Extensive physical activity requiring strenuous work, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
  • Work environment is primarily outdoors or in field repair settings, which may be well-lighted and ventilated.
  • May need to work in awkward or tight positions and handle greasy or dirty tools, requiring adherence to basic safety precautions.
  • Often working alone, expected to report work status and completion throughout and at the end of the day.
  • Communicate with suppliers and outside vendors to obtain parts and coordinate services.
  • Must know personal limitations and ask for assistance when necessary.
  • Service vehicle equipped with toolboxes, welder/air compressor, and crane is provided.

Requirements

  • Clean driving record.
  • Trustworthy with a high degree of integrity.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working alone.
  • Occasional weekend work required.
  • Accustomed to changes in priorities and responding professionally to urgent matters.
  • 3+ years’ experience working with heavy equipment.
  • Must provide own personal tools and toolbox.
  • Welding/fabrication experience is a plus.

Pay

$40.00 - $45.00 per hour, DOE. Estimated annual earnings of $130k-$150k with overtime.

Schedule

55-60 hours per week.
