Job Function
- Cook the receipt and movement of crude oil from local lease locations, pipelines, and third-party carriers.
- Travel to lease locations in a Company-provided vehicle and communicate with producers by phone and in person.
- Operate and monitor crude oil pipelines, valves, pumps, meters, tanks, LACT units, and related facilities in accordance with established procedures.
- Start and stop pipeline flows where automatic custody-transfer meters are not available, using tank gauge differences to calculate the volume received.
- Gauge lease storage tanks “on” (high gauge) and “off” (low gauge), collect representative crude oil samples, and approve eligible tanks for release and transportation to Kern Energy.
- Accurately record gauge readings, sample results, volumes, and other required information on Kern Crude Oil Run Tickets and submit completed tickets to the Accounting Department.
- Maintain the Gauger Logbook and accurate records of tank inventories, pipeline movements, shipments, receipts, meter readings, and measurement activities.
- Complete the daily Anticipated Oil Receipts Summary using information provided by Planning and supplemental details regarding local lease receipts.
- Perform routine meter inspections and assist with meter proving and calibration activities.
- Conduct pipeline patrols and facility inspections to identify leaks, corrosion, damage, encroachments, exposed pipe, erosion, equipment deficiencies, and other conditions that may affect pipeline integrity.
- Respond promptly to suspected leaks, spills, alarms, equipment failures, and other abnormal or emergency conditions.
- Assist with pipeline start-ups, shutdowns, line transfers, isolations, emergency shutdowns, spill containment, and other operational changes.
- Perform routine pipeline and facility maintenance, including valve maintenance, lubrication, minor repairs, and equipment inspections.
- Identify and mark Kern Energy pipelines in response to Underground Service Alert requests and Dig Alerts coordinated through the Commercial Department.
- Assist contractors, inspection vendors, emergency-response contractors, and regulatory agencies performing work at Kern Energy facilities, as directed.
- Identify maintenance needs and promptly communicate deficiencies or abnormal operating conditions to supervision and other appropriate departments.
- Complete daily operating reports, inspection records, maintenance documentation, measurement records, photographs, and written field reports accurately and timely.
- Maintain records necessary to support regulatory inspections and audits.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and simultaneously on many tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required Operator Qualification certifications.
- Ability to effectively read, comprehend, and convey technical information.
- Ability to read maps and navigate various terrain to locate Crude leases.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions with exposure to elements.
- Must possess a California Driver's License and a clean DMV Record.
