Field Experience Supervisor

The Role

The Education Department at Daemen University is seeking qualified supervisors for student teaching and other field experiences. Supervisors provide one-on-one support for teacher candidates, facilitating reflection and observing their teaching. They serve as the initial point of contact between the cooperating teacher and Daemen University.

Responsibilities

• Support teacher candidates in their reflection and observation of teaching practices
• Facilitate initial contact between cooperating teachers and Daemen University
• Conduct remote observations using video analysis software
• Schedule and conduct student debrief meetings via Zoom after-school hours
• Supervise teacher candidates in two different classroom settings for a minimum of 7 weeks/35 days in each placement
• Assist teacher candidates in transitioning from a supported teaching experience to taking over as the classroom teacher by the end of the experience
• Ensure teacher candidates are responsible for their own transportation and completing any required background checks

Qualifications

• NYS teacher certification (any area)
• Expertise in instructional pedagogy, learning theory, learner development, culturally responsive & sustaining teaching practices, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
• Familiarity with the NYS P-12 learning standards
• At least three years teaching experience in Grades PK-12 or similar relevant experience
• A Master's degree in Education, content area, or a related field
• Familiarity with use of Zoom and Google Workspace
• Comfort with learning new technologies for video-based supervision
• Teaching experience in higher education/teacher preparation (preferred)
• NYS teacher certification in Students with Disabilities (any grades) (preferred)
