Field Engineers
Herzog Contracting Corp. is constructing a new 110,000 square foot heavy maintenance facility in Philadelphia, PA. This facility will inspect, test, and perform maintenance, services, and cleanings of fully assembled Amtrak trainsets, including the new Acela and Airo fleets.
Responsibilities
- Schedule input and updates
- Prepare and manage submittals, coordinating with Document Control for proper documentation
- Compile field work packages and as-built data
- Verify installation quantities and perform procurement quantity takeoffs
- Conduct field safety and quality inspections
- Generate daily reports in construction management software
- Assist Superintendent with coordination of material deliveries
- Perform field verifications, inspections, and measurements
- Ensure field personnel have the latest drawings and installation documents
- Update drawings with redlines of as-built information
- Attend briefings and safety meetings as required
- Attain job-specific training and maintain annual requirements
- Ensure work is correctly cost-coded; extra work coded separately as assigned
- Promote and engage in Herzog’s culture and essential behaviors
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2–5 years of railroad construction experience preferred
- Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent construction-related work experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- AutoCAD skills a plus (training provided as needed)
- Construction management coursework or internship experience a plus
- Flexibility to work in both office and field environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong teamwork and organizational skills
- Highly motivated
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis
Physical Requirements
- Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces
- Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs
- Regularly sit and stand for extended periods
- Regularly kneel, bend, and squat
- Must pass color/vision examinations as required
- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise and around heavy/moving machinery
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet)
