Role Summary
The Field Engineering Technician will play a critical role in supporting the installation, operation, and service of Clarapath’s SectionStar™ and TrimStar Pro™, our advanced electro-mechanical systems, at customer sites. This position requires strong technical aptitude, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in dynamic field environments. Working closely with our engineering, manufacturing, and customer support teams, this individual will ensure successful deployments, perform on-site diagnostics and repairs, and provide valuable feedback to improve product performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission SectionStar™ and TrimStar Pro™ units at customer sites
- Perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of electro-mechanical and control-system components
- Use software tools to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and support machines deployed in the field
- Conduct preventive maintenance and routine system health checks
- Accurately document service activities, maintenance findings, and corrective actions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and customer support teams to communicate field issues and recommend product improvements
- Support beta testing, validation activities, and field deployment of product updates
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and clear customer communication while representing Clarapath
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in engineering technology, electronics, mechanical systems, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in field service, technical support, electro-mechanical equipment maintenance, or a related role
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, sensors, and control hardware
- Experience diagnosing basic electrical issues using multimeters
- Hands-on experience with wire crimping and cable assembly
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Competency in handling warehouse equipment such as hand trucks and electric stackers
- Excellent communication skills, strong customer-service orientation, and attention to documentation detail
- Ability to travel frequently to customer sites (up to ~50% -75%)
- Ability to lift and maneuver equipment as required for installation and service tasks
- Familiarity with laboratory or medical devices, a plus
