Field Engineering Technician

Join our team at a Microsoft data center in Racine, WI, supporting the startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of building automation and control systems. This hands-on role focuses on Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for HVAC, chiller plants, energy monitoring, lighting, and environmental controls.

Responsibilities

  • Start up, commission, troubleshoot, and optimize building automation systems.
  • Configure control devices, sensors, alarms, trends, and reporting tools.
  • Verify operation of valves, actuators, dampers, relays, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues using software and electrical test tools.
  • Update control drawings and project documentation.
  • Support projects from startup through commissioning and owner training.
  • Communicate technical findings and project status with customers and project teams.
  • Travel occasionally for training and support at other data center locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 0-2 years of experience in building automation, HVAC, controls, construction, energy, power generation, or a related technical field.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, and temperature controls.
  • Ability to safely troubleshoot electrical systems and use a multimeter.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work extended schedules, including occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree, technical certification, or relevant trade experience.
  • Experience with building automation platforms (WebCTRL preferred).
  • Ability to read HVAC drawings and control schematics.
  • Experience commissioning HVAC controls and related devices.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Schedule

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI. The role is fully onsite and may require extended schedules, including occasional Saturdays.
