About the role

The Field Engineering Specialist serves as a technical repair or installation specialist for Roche products within assigned product lines and geographies. This field-based role provides routine technical support to laboratory customers on operational and maintenance aspects of system equipment, including on-site service, repair, and/or installation. Responsibilities may involve mechanical/system hardware and software, networking/wireless networking, and serving as the customer contact for technical and service-related problems.

This position is based in Central and Northern Wisconsin, with the ideal candidate living in the Appleton/Green Bay area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site service, repair, and/or installation of Roche products, including mechanical/system hardware, software, and networking/wireless networking.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hardware, software, and system failures using established procedures to determine cost-effective resolutions and minimize customer downtime.
  • Serve as the customer contact for routine technical and service-related issues, resolving most questions and problems independently.
  • Document all activity in compliance with company quality procedures and provide analysis, feedback, and recommendations on product failure trends and serviceability issues.
  • Follow documented practices, policies, and procedures for repair and installation support.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the quality system to achieve quality objectives.
  • Travel, including some overnight travel, is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and 2 years of technical school or equivalent military training or work experience.
  • 5 years of progressive experience repairing or servicing mechanical/system hardware and software, or networking/wireless networking, OR a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field plus 1–2 years of progressive experience in the same areas.
  • Successful training or certification as defined by RD Services Leadership and policy.
  • Ability to travel, including some overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 4+ years of progressive experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of electronics, electro-mechanical systems, information technology, and basic chemistry.
  • Ability to serve as an internal technical resource, provide after-hours and weekend support, and maintain strong customer relationships.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position based in Wisconsin is $71,100–$132,000. Actual pay will be determined by experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
