About the role
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost.
As an Amazon Field Engineering (FE) Manager, you will manage a team that provides full life-cycle support to AWS Leased/Owned Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. Your team will be the primary engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed, using your subject matter expertise to expand and support our large and growing portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Hire, coach, and develop employees that demonstrate Amazon Leadership Principles.
- Manage team and individual performance, including promotions.
- Create and improve metrics, driving efficiencies in repeatable work.
- Apply high judgement to make trade-offs on competing business needs.
- Establish strategic direction of the Cluster and Regional APJC team, and influence roadmaps of technical or business partner teams.
- Identify resource requirements and gaps, establishing a regional team roadmap to success.
- Work directly with partner teams to implement new and improve existing processes and procedures, within their region and propagate globally where necessary.
- Drive strategic communication, provide a technical strategy with limited guidance within your assigned Region.
- Identify risks and complexity to unblock engineers and partner teams.
- Drive team timeliness, quality, operational stability, and success in meeting customer requirements and business objectives.
- Identify where to simplify, optimize, and reduce overhead.
- Establish and/or streamline metrics, development, engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices.
- Share best practices with peers.
- Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Commissioning, Construction, and Design).
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 1+ years of engineering team management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines.
- Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations, including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units.
- Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects.
- Experience with fast-track project design/build or with multiple significant project upgrades.
- Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.

Pay
USA, VA, Herndon - $136,000.00 - $184,000.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
