We need to output HTML fragment with sections: duties, salary, notes? The instructions: Use

for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). Use
  • for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and

for prose. Do NOT repeat the job title as a heading (the page already shows it) and do NOT put Job ID / requisition numbers as headings — fold minor metadata into a short

or drop it. Preserve ALL substantive information; do NOT invent or summarize away detail. Remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions. IMPORTANT: include a section ONLY when the posting has real, specific content for it — never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text (e.g. "commensurate with experience", "not specified", "N/A", "varies", "TBD") and never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless the posting actually states them. Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones. Output ONLY the HTML fragment — no /, no markdown code fences. We need to parse the posting: It includes DUTIES (multiple occurrences), ANNUAL SALARY $96,089 to $119,391, then note about DWP salary range, notes about salary start, etc. Then DUTIES again (duplicate). Then REQUIREMENT(S)/MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S). Then PROCESS NOTES (including driver license, etc). Then WHERE TO APPLY & APPLICATION DEADLINE (application instructions - we should remove application instructions). Then SELECTION PROCESS (exam details). Then ALLOWABLE CALCULATORS. Then NOTES about disability accommodation, drug testing, etc. Then NOTICE about benefits, disaster service workers, EEO statement (should remove EEO boilerplate). Also "THIS EXAMINATION IS TO BE GIVEN ONLY ON AN OPEN COMPETITIVE BASIS" and non-discrimination statement (EEO) - remove. We need to keep substantive info: duties, salary, requirements/qualifications, process notes (driver license, etc), selection process (exam weight, competencies, calculator guidelines, test date), maybe notes about disability accommodation, drug testing, benefits notice? The notice about benefits: "Notice : If you receive and accept an offer of employment to a regular position with the City of Los Angeles, your employee benefit coverage (including health and dental coverage as well as life insurance) will commence approximately six weeks after your original regular appointment. Not all positions in the City receive benefit coverage; you should inquire regarding the availability of employee benefits prior to accepting a position. All City employees are required to be Disaster Service Workers." This is substantive about benefits and disaster service worker requirement. Should we include a Benefits section? The posting mentions benefits notice. According to instruction: include a section ONLY when posting has real, specific content for it. It does mention benefits, so we could include a Benefits section with that info. However we must avoid boilerplate EEO etc. The benefits notice is not boilerplate; it's specific. So include Benefits. Also we have schedule? Not mentioned. Pay: we have salary range, we can include Pay section. We need to avoid duplicating content. Duties appear twice; we should combine into one duties section. Requirements: we have REQUIREMENT(S)/MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S) block. Also PROCESS NOTES includes driver license etc. Could combine into Requirements/Qualifications section? The instruction says use headings like Requirements, Qualifications, Skills. We could have a Requirements section that includes both the minimum qualifications and process notes (driver license, etc). Or separate Qualifications and Process Notes? Probably better to have a Requirements section covering both. Selection process: could be a separate section maybe "Selection Process" or "Examination". Not in the list of headings but we can use similar heading? The instruction gave examples but not limited to those; we can use other headings as needed but must be

. Probably okay to use "Selection Process". However they said use

for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). They gave examples but not exclusive. We'll stick to those where applicable. For selection process maybe we can put under "Requirements"? But better to have its own heading like "Selection Process". It's not in examples but likely acceptable. However to be safe, we could incorporate selection process details into a "Requirements" or "Qualifications"? Might be thin. I'd create a section "Selection Process". The instruction didn't forbid other headings; just gave examples. So okay. We also have "ALLOWABLE CALCULATORS" which is part of selection process; could be under same section. We need to remove application instructions (WHERE TO APPLY & APPLICATION DEADLINE). Also remove duplicated lines. We need to preserve all substantive info: duties, salary, notes about salary start, DWP salary range, etc. Also notes about reciprocity link? That's a note about reciprocity between City departments and LADWP. That's substantive? It's a link for info regarding reciprocity. Might be considered minor metadata but it's a note. Could be included in a short p. We also have NOTES about annual salary start, etc. We'll include in Pay section maybe. We need to avoid boilerplate like EEO statement, disability accommodation form link? Actually disability accommodation is substantive; we should keep that. The EEO statement at end: "The City of Los Angeles does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, creed, color, ancestry, medical condition (cancer), or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome." That's boilerplate EEO; remove. Also "THIS EXAMINATION IS TO BE GIVEN ONLY ON AN OPEN COMPETITIVE BASIS" maybe not needed but could be kept as note? It's procedural; maybe keep as part of Selection Process? Could be considered boilerplate but it's about exam administration. Might keep. We need to output only HTML fragment. Let's structure:

    Duties

    • ... list items from duties.
Duties text: "A Field Engineering Aide performs sub-professional land surveying work or works with engineering personnel. A Field Engineering Aide may be required to climb fences, work in confined spaces, work with and around hot asphalt, and carry surveying equipment long distances over various types of terrain; also may be trained to operate Data Collectors, and to set up and operate Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers." We can break into list items: maybe each sentence as
  • . Or combine into one
  • . Better to split: - Performs sub-professional land surveying work or works with engineering personnel. - May be required to climb fences, work in confined spaces, work with and around hot asphalt, and carry surveying equipment long distances over various types of terrain. - May be trained to operate Data Collectors. - May be trained to set up and operate Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers. That captures.

    Pay

Annual salary range: $96,089 to $119,391 (starting salary at the beginning of the pay range). The Department of Water and Power salary range is $100,871 to $125,300. Note: salary is subject to change; confirm starting salary with the hiring department before accepting an offer.

Also maybe include note about reciprocity link? Could add a short p: "For information regarding reciprocity between City of Los Angeles departments and LADWP, see https://personnel.lacity.gov/Reciprocity_CityDepts_and_DWP.pdf."

    Requirements

    • Successful completion of high school or college-level courses in algebra, geometry, trigonometry and 3 semester or 4 quarter units in plane surveying, and one course in drafting or computer aided drafting; OR
    • One year of full-time paid experience as a member of a survey party.
    • Valid Class C driver’s license issued by the California DMV required at time of appointment.
    • Applicants will be disqualified if DMV record shows three or more moving violations and/or at‑fault accidents, or a conviction of a major moving violation within the last 36 months in any state/jurisdiction.
    • Applicants qualifying via coursework must list course titles, number of units, school, and date completed in the Supplemental Questions section of the application; failure to do so results in disqualification.
    • Qualifying coursework must be from a school accredited by a City of Los Angeles recognized agency (see https://personnel.lacity.gov/Accredited%20Institutions%2008-21-08.pdf).
    • Candidates may be required to provide proof of qualifying coursework; transcripts may be attached to the online application.
We could also include note about disability accommodation: maybe under a separate section "Accommodations". But we could include under Requirements? Might be better separate.

    Selection Process

Examination consists of a weighted multiple‑choice test (100%). Competencies assessed: Mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, basic arithmetic, decimal unit conversion); Learning Ability; Attention to Detail; Safety Focus (proper use of digging/cutting tools, PPE, WATCH guidelines); Job Knowledge (survey procedures, rods, distance/level measuring tools, supplies, terminology, satellite survey systems, electronic/optical instruments); Interpersonal Skills; and other necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities.

    • Allowable calculators: hand‑held, non‑programmable, non‑qwerty, self‑contained scientific calculator; cellular phone calculators not permitted.
    • Multiple‑choice test administered on‑line; scheduled for Friday, November 20, 2026 in Los Angeles (additional dates may be added).
    • A final average score of 70% is required to be placed on the eligible list.
    • As a covered entity under the Fair Employment and Housing Act and Title II of the ADA, the City provides reasonable accommodations for disability; request via Disability Accommodation Form (https://personnel.lacity.gov/exams/verify_disability.pdf) within 14 days of application submission.
    • Based on City policy, mandatory drug and alcohol testing may be required prior to and during employment.
    • Notice: If you receive and accept an offer of employment to a regular position, employee benefit coverage (health, dental, life insurance) commences approximately six weeks after appointment; not all positions receive benefits—inquire before accepting. All City employees are required to be Disaster Service Workers.
We might also include note about protest process etc. Could be considered procedural but maybe not needed. The instruction says preserve ALL substantive information; protest process is substantive? Might be considered part of selection process. Could include a bullet: "Candidates may file protests per Civil Service Rule Sections 4.20, 4.22, 4.23 within required time frame; the Personnel Department may resolve protests before the eligible list is established." Might be okay. But we need to avoid too many thin sections; we have Duties, Pay, Requirements, Selection Process. That's four sections, fine. Check for any duplicated content: we removed application instructions, EEO boilerplate, etc. Check for any placeholders like "commensurate with experience" - none. Check for any "N/A" etc - none. Check for any "varies" - we have "subject to change" which is okay. Check for any "TBD" -
