Field Engineer Technician (Hourly)

About the role

We are looking for a Field Engineer Technician to join our Operations team on our project in Chester, VA. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Assist Field Engineers in operating robotic total station instruments, auto level, and other surveying instruments.
• Perform construction layout by setting stakes, marking lines, elevations, grades, and reference points.
• Maintain total station, field book, survey equipment, and tools.
• Provide primary support to our field supervision and demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks.
• Maintain professionalism, use critical thinking to solve issues, and lead the team to complete daily tasks at the jobsite.
• This position will include on-the-job training.

Requirements

• Previous construction experience is ideal but not required.
• Must be able to work overtime and weekend hours.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Punctuality and promptness are required every day.
• Must be able to work in an OSHA-compliant safety environment.
• Willingness to travel.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift and carry materials and layout equipment of all shapes and sizes weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.
• Work on uneven surfaces and heights.
• Must be able to read/write and see & hear well either naturally or with correction.
• Must be agile/mobile, remain alert, and be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
• Use fingers, hands, and arms to reach, handle, and manipulate objects.
• Climb up/down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
