Support the X-Ray Systems business as a Field Service Engineer in Northern Virginia, focusing on customer relationship management through technical expertise. Responsibilities include installing, troubleshooting, servicing, and maintaining equipment at customer sites while generating service revenue and adhering to regulatory requirements. This role services laser printers, networks, CR & DR X-ray imaging equipment, radio fluoroscopy equipment, and other hospital equipment, primarily in hospitals and imaging centers.
A company-provided vehicle, laptop, and cell phone are included. This position may require overnight travel and is based in a home office. Field Service Engineers must live within the designated territory.
Responsibilities
- Customer Ownership
- Build credibility and trust with customers through proactive visits.
- Provide timely and regular communications to customers and internal stakeholders regarding equipment issues.
- Demonstrate urgency in identifying and resolving customer issues, following appropriate escalation processes.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by adhering to entitlements, setting clear expectations, and meeting commitments.

- Generate revenue growth by offering solutions aligned with the service portfolio.

- Complete administrative duties within regulatory timeframes, such as timesheets, service work orders, expense reports, and documentation.
- Technical Duties
- Independently resolve equipment and customer issues.
- Complete preventative maintenance (PM), Field Change Orders (FCO), and installations.
- Diagnose and resolve electronic, network, and mechanical problems using tools and escalation processes.
- Provide remote technical support, diagnostics, and telephone assistance to resolve customer equipment issues.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience; BSEE/BSEET/BSME/BSMET preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in the electronics industry, preferably in a field service environment; diagnostic imaging experience a plus.
- Knowledge of computers and networking, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to apply electronic, mechanical, and networking theory to install, diagnose, and repair equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and site drawings with minimal assistance.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment.
- Adaptability to changing work requirements in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills for various employee and customer levels.
- Valid driver’s license and driving record compliant with Fleet Policy.
Desired Skills
- Experience with X-Ray or complex medical devices.
- Knowledge of Carestream equipment.
Work Environment
- Primarily operates in hospitals, critical care imaging centers, and remotely from a home office.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 20 pounds; occasional lifting over 70 pounds.
- Average driving time of 1-4 hours daily, potentially exceeding 50% at times; occasional overnight stays.
- Required to adhere to customer certification/credentialing for facility access.
