Field Engineer II
Acuative, the nation's leading independent provider of telecommunications field services, seeks a Field Service Technician for the (MARKET) area. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that includes a company vehicle, gas card, inventory, and paid training on topics such as routers, switches, rack and stack, and structured cabling. Acuative is willing to invest in technical candidates for this role.
About the role
The position requires travel to provide installation and maintenance services for voice and data networks, servers, computer systems, retail technology systems, and other network-based hardware. Tickets may be assigned four or more hours away. Technicians are guaranteed 40 hours of pay per week, even if not dispatched for the full 40 hours. The role often involves working alone and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds above head and climb a ladder.
Selected candidates will receive paid training and support for every job they are assigned. This is a drug-free workplace.
Responsibilities
- Installation and maintenance of networking hardware including routers, switches, and WAPs
- Installation and maintenance of telephony equipment and circuits
- Installation and support of retail technology systems (POS, digital signage, video surveillance)
- Circuit extensions and structured cabling
- Site surveys and audits
- Installation of LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite receivers, cables, and hardware
- Installation of fixed wireless antennas, cables, and hardware
- Accurate and timely submission of all job-related documents and deliverables
- Maintain company vehicle, inventory, and tools to departmental standards
Requirements
- Clear driver’s license (no more than 4 points)
- COVID-19 vaccination
- Willingness to work mostly Monday–Friday with opportunity for overtime and after-hours call-out pay
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds above head and climb a ladder
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet customer SLAs
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Willingness and ability to work off a lift or ladder at heights of 30 feet or more
Qualifications
Candidates should possess many of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Working knowledge of networking hardware and topologies
- Familiarity with Cisco networking products and interfacing through Cisco CLI
- Understanding of telephony systems (VoIP, PBX, key systems) with hands-on hardware and troubleshooting support
- Knowledge of computing systems hardware with break/fix support for desktop PCs and/or servers
- Experience with physical installations of routers, switches, WAPs, servers, POS systems, digital signage, and peripheral equipment
- Ability to provide configuration support for various technology platforms through console and remote applications
- Experience with LEC circuit identification and extensions
- Familiarity with cabling standards and ability to pull and terminate cabling in customer environments
- Ability to operate basic power tools (drills, saws, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel & Word)
- Ability to follow detailed job documents
- Experience installing LEO satellite (e.g., Starlink) and/or fixed wireless antennas
Education & Certifications
- Associate’s degree in information technology or equivalent experience
- CompTIA, Cisco, cabling, satellite, PBX, or VoIP system certifications are a plus
Selected candidates will attend a hardware and cabling training course at Acuative’s Global Technology Center in Strongsville, OH.
