About the role
The Scale AI team is looking for a highly skilled AI Data Engineer to support our Federal Engineering team. This role involves designing and implementing systems that integrate with existing customer systems, ensuring seamless integration of Scale’s platform into customer workflows.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute the vision for data pipelines and agents.
- Implement end-to-end data integrations, syncing customer’s data to Scale’s platform and back.
- Deploy and maintain Scale software at customer sites.
- Develop customer requested features and work closely with them to ensure they win customer love.
- Build robust and reliable backend systems that can serve as standalone products, empowering customers to accelerate their own AI ambitions.
- Participate actively in customer engagements, working closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
Requirements
- Minimum Secret clearance, willing to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
- Data Engineering: Knowledge of ETL processes, experience in building data pipelines, understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance principles.
- Track record of success as a hybrid customer facing engineer, forward deployed software engineer, and ability to quickly adapt to different roles.
- Prior experience developing with Python.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Linux experience: Understanding of shell scripting, operating systems, etc.
- Networking experience: Understanding of networking technologies, configuration (ports, protocols, etc).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand complex challenges and devise effective solutions.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in data engineering and software development.
Skills
- Python programming.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Linux command line experience.
- Understanding of networking technologies and configurations.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Pay
- Base salary range: $190,000—$290,000 USD for San Francisco, New York, Seattle; $170,000—$260,000 USD for Hawaii, Washington DC, Texas, Colorado; $140,000—$220,000 USD for St. Louis.
