Responsibilities
- Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals
- Aid in managing the project permit process
- Prepare and manage bid packages and procurement
- Aid in the preparation of change orders
- Assist more senior civil engineers with entry-level engineering tasks
- Perform onsite construction administration and construction observation services including reporting/monitoring contractor's compliance with contract documents
- Evaluate change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing releases and reports status
- Evaluate submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and take appropriate action based upon contract specifications
- Review and process as-built drawings to ensure that all changes during the course of construction are recorded
- Complete project close-out requirements in accordance with contract documents
- Coordinate meeting agendas, prepare minutes and follow up on action items
- Maintain effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers and contractors
- Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Construction/related degree with 1-3 years construction experience/heavy civil general contractor experience
- Transportation experience is highly preferred
- Ability to speak English and Spanish is a REQUIREMENT
- Excellent computer skills and analytical ability
- Experience working with Primavera P6, AutoCAD
- Understanding of industrial construction process
- Able to interpret contract specifications and drawings
- Knowledge of contract procedures and principles
- Able to communicate effectively and work in a team environment
- Able to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex projects
