Field Engineer

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals
• Aid in managing the project permit process
• Prepare and manage bid packages and procurement
• Aid in the preparation of change orders
• Assist more senior civil engineers with entry-level engineering tasks
• Perform onsite construction administration and construction observation services including reporting/monitoring contractor's compliance with contract documents
• Evaluate change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing releases and reports status
• Evaluate submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and take appropriate action based upon contract specifications
• Review and process as-built drawings to ensure that all changes during the course of construction are recorded
• Complete project close-out requirements in accordance with contract documents
• Coordinate meeting agendas, prepare minutes and follow up on action items
• Maintain effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers and contractors
• Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Construction/related degree with 1-3 years construction experience/heavy civil general contractor experience
• Transportation experience is highly preferred
• Ability to speak English and Spanish is a REQUIREMENT
• Excellent computer skills and analytical ability
• Experience working with Primavera P6, AutoCAD
• Understanding of industrial construction process
• Able to interpret contract specifications and drawings
• Knowledge of contract procedures and principles
• Able to communicate effectively and work in a team environment
• Able to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex projects
