About the role
We are seeking Field Engineers to join our Texas Division in the Austin area.
Responsibilities
- General contract and subcontract administration
- Construction scheduling
- Procurement and expediting of material and equipment
- Mechanical, electrical, and piping systems coordination
- Project cost review, reporting, updating, and accounting
- Review of subcontractor applications for payment
- Participation in project meetings
- Supervision and coordination of subcontractors' field installations
- Review and negotiate change proposal pricing from subcontractors and prepare change proposals for self-performed work
- Research and suggest options on construction means, methods, and equipment
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with owners, vendors, and subcontractors
- Any and all other duties assigned
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment; requires ability to communicate in person and over the telephone, interpret printed materials and computer screens, and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
- Lift and carry supplies and files weighing up to 10 pounds; move about the office to access supplies and office machinery
- Operates at professional construction sites; requires ability to communicate verbally with others on-site, read printed materials, signs, and directions, and maintain attention despite interruptions
- Lift, push, pull, carry, handle, or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery, and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds
- Reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift overhead
- Traverse around or position oneself around construction sites while adhering to safety requirements
- Work outside, frequently for long periods, in all weather conditions, including extreme hot and cold temperatures
- Exposure to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, viruses or other pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines, and dust/debris
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Occasional overtime may be required as job duties demand.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related program required
- 2-3 years of prior construction field experience required; water and wastewater construction experience preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with quick response time to inquiries
- Passing a pre-employment background check and drug screen is required
