About the role

The Field Engineer assists the Project Manager, Project Engineer, and Superintendents in engineering, planning, and scheduling construction operations to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable project delivery. This role provides primary oversight of assigned field operations, requiring thorough knowledge of project plans, specifications, field layout, cost tracking, scheduling, and collaboration with field and office personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Project Engineer as required.
  • Perform field engineering and design of temporary structures, including formwork, false work, lift plans, trestles, sheet piling, and shoring.
  • Assist in schedule preparations and updates; identify critical work items and long-lead items.
  • Coordinate survey crew activities.
  • Track and report quantities; assist in project costing and forecasting.
  • Prepare requisitions for equipment and materials for approval by the Project Engineer.
  • Coordinate inspections of material deliveries to ensure compliance with purchase orders and shop drawings.
  • Resolve field problems and conflicts; liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce on field details.
  • Notify the Project Engineer of potential cost impacts due to field problems or plan conflicts.
  • Assist in preparing RFIs and documenting time and material work or extra work activities.
  • Maintain a daily project diary and take regular progress photos.
  • Assist with project closeout and additional responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent technical training and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of similar construction engineering and/or surveying experience.
  • Excellent management, supervisory, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in database and project controls software, MS Excel, and MS Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
