Field Engineer

About the Role

Responsible for supporting the Superintendent in planning and management of the respective project’s field activities. Responsibilities include trade preparatory and coordination meetings, maintaining schedule, planning, ensuring safety compliance, conformance with the design documents, and assuring quality work.

Responsibilities

• Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
• Reviews subcontractor scopes of work.
• Orders materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
• Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays under the guidance of the Superintendent.
• Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
• Reviews Procore daily reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 2 - 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
• Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high or precarious places, extreme cold, extreme heat, explosives, and risk of radiation.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
