About the role
As a Field Engineer you will be responsible and tasked with managing technical functions, testing equipment, handling repairs, managing engineering projects, and conducting site inspections. You will also engage with clients, ensure compliance, conduct feasibility studies, and apply technical knowledge to practical problems.
Responsibilities
- Establish project Horizontal Control
- Verify accuracy of consultant-provided control
- Establish working control points from provided control
- Continuously check and maintain horizontal control
- Establish project Vertical Control
- Verify accuracy of consultant-provided control
- Establish working benchmarks from provided control
- Continuously check and maintain vertical control
- Instrument care, maintenance, and use
- Check optical plummet
- Visually check instrument for evidence of damage or mis-adjustment
- Check and set temperature and pressure correction in Total Station
- Check and calibrate instrument collimation
- Auto level Care, maintenance, and use
- Run and adjust three-wire level loop
- Compute tangent grades
- Plot cross-sections and determine earthwork
- Read a contour map
Qualifications
- Make temperature corrections when chaining
- Read and understand Structural / Architectural / Shop Drawings
- Provide layout from drawings without assistance
- Coordinate between drawings and discern potential conflicts
- Proficient in the use of scales
- Layout footings, columns, and building lines with no assistance
- Establish vertical dimensions from given finish floor elevations
- Compute concrete quantities for daily pours, slabs, columns, etc.
- Conduct fine grading operations
- Level deck with no assistance
- Grade columns with no assistance
- Establish secondary benchmarks
- Establish secondary horizontal and vertical control, i.e. column lines, offsets
- Compute and track concrete during pour
Skills
- Proficient in simple math, geometry, and trigonometry
- Figure deflection angles and solve curves
- Proficient in the computation of rectangular and polar coordinates
- Proficient with Data Collection software
- Introduction to AutoCAD
- Knowledge of everything required of an Apprentice
