Field Engineer
About the role
Join a dynamic team leading the deployment and replacement of civil air traffic surveillance radars—both approach and en-route—across the United States. As a Field Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering advanced radar solutions that enhance the safety and efficiency of air traffic nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Lead the definition of system architecture and analyze functional and technical requirements for large-scale radar deployments.
- Design and document technical interfaces, ensuring seamless integration of all components, including COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) and third-party systems.
- Coordinate and drive internal and formal technical reviews, maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
- Prepare essential technical documentation, such as Interface Control Documents (ICD) and System Test Plans (TP), in collaboration with the Product Department.
- Oversee and approve partial deliverables throughout all project phases, working closely with Field Engineering teams.
- Ensure successful delivery and integration of radar systems at multiple sites distributed across the United States.
- Foster collaboration with the System Engineering organization and other multidisciplinary teams to guarantee project success.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, proactively resolving issues and promoting continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
- 3-5+ years of experience in field engineering, systems engineering, technical management, and project management within radar, air traffic surveillance or similar sectors.
- Experience or exposure to radars, air surveillance, or air traffic equipment.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
- Travel up to 30-50% (Generally closer to 30%).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor or higher preferred (Technical or Engineering Degree).
- Experience in electronics, FAA, aerospace defense, air traffic, and air surveillance.
Work Environment
Work with a company that is rapidly growing and evolving, with plans to double in size in the next year and again in the following five years. The company is moving into a brand-new facility within the next six months, with phases of expansion ongoing across the United States.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Overland Park, KS.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $44.00/hr.
