About the role
Ardmore Roderick is seeking a Field Engineer/Assistant Project Manager to join their team in Chicago, IL. This role will oversee daily construction activities, support project teams, and manage administrative tasks for the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Public Building Commission (PBC).
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily construction activities and ensure compliance with project specifications, timeline, and budget
- Support project teams delivering critical infrastructure work for CDOT and PBC
- Provide essential administrative, tracking, and coordination support to ensure project success
- Maintain detailed records of daily construction operations
- Address and resolve issues that may arise during the construction process
- Daily interaction with contractors to ensure project is completed on time and within budget
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in engineering technology, construction management, urban planning, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in construction, engineering, transportation, or administrative coordination
- Familiarity with public infrastructure or municipal projects, especially CDOT-centric experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Team player mindset with strong communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field
- Familiarity with City of Chicago departments and permitting processes
- Experience working in a consultant or government agency environment
- Experience using project management or document control systems
- Interest in long-term career development in project management or transportation infrastructure

Pay
$74,963 - $99,964/year
Schedule
Mainly field-based work, with some office support.
Qualifications
