Field Ecologist
About the role
EDR is seeking an experienced, versatile, team-oriented Field Ecologist to join our Environmental Services group in the Mid-West or Mid-Atlantic. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting wetland/stream delineations and other natural resource-based fieldwork such as wildlife surveys, habitat surveys, rare plant surveys, invasive species surveys, and general ecological surveys.
Responsibilities
- Conduct wetland/stream delineations and other natural resource-based fieldwork
- Identify common plant species found throughout the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States
- Use GPS, GIS, and data processing tools
- Write reports and perform impact analysis
- Lead wetland delineations, invasive species surveys, and avian surveys
- Travel for up to a week at a time, sometimes with consecutive weeks of work on a remote site
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree in environmental science, natural resources, biology, ecology, or related field
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience
- Ability to identify common plant species found throughout the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States
- Experience with GPS, GIS, data processing, and report writing
- The ability to travel for up to a week at a time, sometimes with consecutive weeks of work on a remote site
Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred
- Strong technical writing skills, data processing, and GIS skills
- Office skills such as impact analysis, technical writing, efficient research, and problem-solving skills

Benefits
Commensurate with experience, with a base pay range of $60,000-$70,000 per year. EDR reserves the right to pay outside of the target range based on an individual’s education, credentials, skill level and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity, geographic location, and business needs.
Pay
$60,000 - $70,000 annually
Schedule
Full-time position based out of an EDR office in New York, Pennsylvania or Ohio
