Field Deployment Technician

About the role

This role involves deploying, imaging, and setting up equipment across VA medical centers and training sites. It requires strong technical skills and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, image, and set up PCs, laptops, docking stations, monitors, printers, scanners, and network connections.
• Unbox, set up, install, configure, remove equipment, and re-package hardware for shipment.
• Set up equipment at various training sites, verify computers have the latest VA image, ensure security scans and updates are available, assign Active Directory for training use, configure network connectivity, and install peripherals.
• Manage inventory and network connectivity at training sites and ensure connectivity during training sessions.
• Travel to other sites outside the metropolitan area as needed.

Requirements

• 1+ year of experience in imaging, installing computer equipment, and managing technical staff.
• Able to unpack/re-pack, move, and install equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must have personal transportation available during work hours.
• Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, system imaging, hardware break-fix support, refresh, upgrade, and deployment projects.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience with conducting routine system administration tasks and logging data in system admin logs.
• Experience with maintaining troubleshooting a wide variety of systems and networks, including high availability systems.
• Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes, and ability to work independently while providing excellent customer service.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information System, Information Technology, or equivalent, or 8 total years of experience.
• Nice if you have experience with ServiceNow ticketing system and/or experience with the Department of VA Public Trust clearance.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows desktop deployments and IT helpdesk Tier 1 or 2 roles.
