Field Deployment Techician
About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Field Deployment Technician to support the VA’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) deployment and training initiatives. In this role, you will assist in deploying, imaging, configuring, and setting up a wide range of IT equipment across VA medical centers and offsite training facilities. This position requires technical proficiency combined with a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will work independently, traveling to various site locations and ensuring all hardware and software are properly installed and maintained.
Work arrangement: On-Site at VA Medical Centers and training locations. Public Trust clearance required.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, image, and set up PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, and networking equipment both onsite and offsite.
- Unbox, install, configure, and remove IT hardware.
- Repackage hardware for shipment and set up equipment at various training sites.
- Verify that each computer has the latest VA image, is available for security scans and updates, and is assigned Active Directory permissions.
- Configure network connectivity and install peripherals at training stations.
- Transport IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds around campus and training sites.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, support system imaging, and perform hardware repairs/upgrades.
- Maintain detailed logs of system administration tasks.
- Ensure all equipment is set up according to security and operational standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year experience in imaging and installing computer equipment.
- Ability to move, unpack, and install pallets of IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Personal transportation available during work hours.
- Capable of traversing site campuses, lifting, stooping, crouching, and reaching to set up/remove computers and cords.
- Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, and system deployment.
- Strong customer service skills.
- HS diploma or GED with 8 years of professional experience in lieu of a degree, plus 1 year of relevant experience.
Desired Skills
- Experience with ServiceNow ticketing system.
- Prior VA experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows desktop deployments.
- Helpdesk Tier 1 or 2 support experience.
Pay
Pay range: $35,000.00–$45,000.00 (annual). This pay range is based on qualifications and experience, and assumes all role requirements are met.
