FIELD CREW MEMBER

Maidstone Harvest is a small, growing organic farm that provides beautiful greens, vegetables, and herbs for several local restaurants and various other markets. We currently have two field locations and are expanding. Our goal over the next few years is to grow to a 7-acre market farm that will cater to chefs, established restaurants, and additional sales channels.

About the role

We are looking to hire a full-time, year-round farm crew member with experience. The position works at least 40 hours a week through the cooler months, with hours expanding up to 50 hours during the main growing season. We seek an individual who is passionate about farming, hard-working, motivated, and excited to join a growing team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain records of seed starts, planting, production, and yields using computer tools
• Perform tasks related to soil and field management, planting, cultivation, irrigation, greenhouse work, pest and climate control, and disease management
• Operate machinery and equipment for production and maintenance
• Communicate effectively with the owner, farm manager, administrator, and fellow farm employees

Requirements

• Experience with organic farming practices
• Knowledge of machine operation and farm equipment
• Computer proficiency for record-keeping
• Interest and knowledge in soil and field management, planting, cultivation, irrigation, greenhouse work, pest and climate control, and disease management
• Physical capability to work long days and lift up to 60 pounds

Pay

Hourly rate: $15–20/hr
