Field Crane Technician
About the role
MGX Equipment Services is seeking Field Crane Technicians to join our team. This position is located at our Phoenix, Arizona branch and reports to the Service Manager. New hires will receive a $4,500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days of continuous service, and be eligible for a Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year.
Responsibilities
- Operates and inspects cranes to diagnose defects.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS, & MEGA-TRACK system.
- Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
- Reads, understands, and interprets operating/parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical, and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.
- Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Able to accomplish tasks independently without direct supervision.
- Performs thorough and accurate annual inspections.
- Properly fills out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
- Provides excellent customer service.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Mechanic/Technician.
- Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred.
- Must be able to travel 50% of the time to job sites and for training as required.
- Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Basic computer skills preferred.

Working Conditions
- This is a full-time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
- Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.

Pay & Training
This position offers a pay range between $25.00 - $45.00 per hour depending on skills and qualifications for non-bargaining employees. Pay is provided on a bi-weekly basis and there are 14 days in the pay period, beginning on a Monday and ending on a Sunday. A customized training plan and career path is identified for each technician and provided within the first week of employment, outlining growth and advancement opportunities.
