Field Buyer - Clay, NY

About the Role

The Field Buyer for Infrastructure will support the formation and administration of purchase orders for a semiconductor fabrication facility project in Clay, NY. This role involves communicating with suppliers and Bechtel personnel to ensure compliance with purchase order terms and conditions, prequalifying bidders, preparing bidder lists and solicitations, analyzing bids, and expediting materials and equipment to meet project needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepares bidder lists and prequalifies bidders.
• Coordinates with Engineering to support material requisition preparation and ensure requirements are clearly defined.
• Prepares bid packages, issues bid requests, manages bidder questions, and receives bids.
• Prepares commercial bid summaries and award recommendations.
• Communicates with suppliers and Bechtel personnel to define requirements and ensure compliance with purchase order terms.
• Identifies and defines purchase order changes, obtaining agreement from relevant parties.
• Prepares and processes purchase order revisions, documenting scope, cost, and schedule impacts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
• Working knowledge of procurement processes, including bidder prequalification, bid solicitation, commercial bid evaluation, award recommendation, and purchase order formation.
• Ability to prepare and maintain procurement documentation, including purchase orders, files, correspondence, and status reports.
• Ability to obtain approvals and make purchase order commitments according to procedures and delegated authority.
• Ability to monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with purchase order requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, analytical, and commercial negotiation skills.

Pay

Salary Range: $91,000 - $138,800 annually (final salary determined by education, experience, and qualifications).
