About the role
The Field Assistant is a key line-level position responsible for assisting with the alteration, maintenance, repair, cleaning, and general upkeep of Recreation premises. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities
- Perform grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, fertilizing, mulching, and litter removal.
- Maintain and prepare athletic fields, including baseball/softball field upkeep, game-day setups, painting, and equipment placement.
- Operate and maintain grounds equipment, irrigation systems, and athletic field maintenance tools.
- Aid with repairs and maintenance of facilities, plumbing systems, pumps, valves, and recreation equipment.
- Apply chemicals and treatments to fields and grounds as needed to control weeds, pests, and disease.
- Safeguard maintenance of recreation facilities, batting cages, pools, sidewalks, and outdoor areas.
- Perform routine cleaning, safety checks, and general upkeep of Recreation facilities and grounds.
- Safely operate Tribal vehicles, light equipment, and specialized maintenance equipment.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- One (1) year of related employment experience in the landscaping, athletic field maintenance, or grounds upkeep field required
- Must possess “Groundskeeper U” certification or obtain within ninety (90) days of employment
- Additional licenses or certifications such as Settling of Landscape Plants or Sports Field Management 101 are a plus
- Must possess First Aid Certification, including CPR and Life Saving, or obtain certification within ninety (90) days of official date of hire in this position
- Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain during the first week of employment
- Must possess “ServSafe Certification” or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully
