Field Applications Engineer (Fluid Dispensing)

About the Role

As the customer-facing engineer for demos, system buyoffs, system/process development, and troubleshooting, you will engage in pre-sales support, machine demonstration and buyoffs, and post-sales support. This role is based in San Jose, CA and involves handling day-to-day customer calls, process evaluations, troubleshooting, and configuring systems for quotes.

Responsibilities

• Handle customer day-to-day calls and concerns via email, phone, and in-person.
• Provide post-sales process and system support.
• Assist in process optimization at customer sites or remotely.
• Conduct system demos at the office, either with customers present or by processing parts and returning finished parts with detailed reports.
• Develop and optimize applications to meet client objectives and user needs.
• Act as a technical advisor to Sales and Service groups.
• Contribute to system manuals and other documentation.
• Install machines at customer facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Chemistry, or Computer Engineering (or related field preferred).
• 2-3 years of fluid applications/process engineering or a field involving customer interaction on technical projects.
• Industry-specific experience and familiarity with Conformal Coating or SMT processes.
• Experience working with chemicals and solvents preferred.
• Understanding of basic electronics for troubleshooting.
• Strong customer service, sales, and marketing skills.

Pay

Base salary expected to be $92,000.00–$97,000.00 annually.

The role involves physical demands such as:

• Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles.
• Maintaining body equilibrium on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
• Bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist.
• Bending legs at the knee to rest on knees or moving about on hands and knees/feet.
• Extending hands and arms in any direction.
• Remaining upright on feet for sustained periods.
• Moving about on foot, including long distances or between work sites.
• Using upper extremities to press, thrust, draw, drag, or haul objects.
• Raising objects from lower to higher positions or moving them horizontally.
• Picking, pinching, typing, or working primarily with fingers.
• Applying pressure with fingers and palms.
• Perceiving attributes of objects (size, shape, temperature, texture) through touch.

Mental and sensory demands include:

• Expressing or exchanging ideas through spoken word with accuracy and clarity.
• Perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels and receiving detailed oral communication.
• Making fine discriminations in sound.
• Making substantial movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.
• Close visual acuity for preparing data, transcribing, viewing computer terminals, reading, and inspecting small parts or defects.

Environmental conditions:

• Inside environmental conditions with protection from weather but not necessarily temperature changes.
• Exposure to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding, high places, high heat, or chemicals.

Travel is required for training in China and Mexico. The role is primarily in a standard office environment with significant computer work.
