Field Application Specialist - HammerHead

About the role
The Application Specialist reports to the Director of Sales and Training and is responsible for delivering high-impact customer training, facilitating hands-on practicums, and supporting the effective use of HammerHead equipment applications. This role prioritizes instructional expertise, adult learning principles, and mechanical aptitude to ensure customers can safely and confidently operate equipment. The position supports new equipment startups, pilot programs, rental equipment, and live demonstrations, while serving as a trusted advisor and maintaining a high standard of integrity, efficiency, and professionalism in all customer interactions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, hands-on customer training using adult learning principles and adapting to varying experience levels
- Facilitate field-based practicums that build operator capability, confidence, and safe equipment use
- Assess trainee performance using standardized certification rubrics and provide clear, actionable coaching feedback
- Support sales by enabling customer success through pilot programs, rental equipment technical support, and live demonstrations
- Translate mechanical and technical concepts into practical, easy-to-understand instruction for operators
- Maintain working knowledge of HammerHead Trenchless equipment, applications, and best practices
- Contribute as a subject matter expert to the development and continuous improvement of training curriculum, materials, and assessments
- Conduct product testing in field and facility environments to support training effectiveness and product understanding
- Provide structured feedback to product management on customer experience, product performance, and training needs
- Participate in regional and national trade shows, supporting both training and demonstration activities
- Manage travel and expenses within budget guidelines
- Complete other duties and assignments as directed
Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Experience delivering training, instruction, or hands-on coaching in a technical or field-based environment strongly preferred
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn, operate, and troubleshoot equipment required
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Experience in trenchless, construction, or related industries preferred, but not required

Pay
At HammerHead, the reasonable range for this opportunity is: $84,000 - $105,000. The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
Schedule
Standard schedule: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with additional hours as required
