– Electronic Components Location: Boston, Massachusetts Salary: $130,000–$150,000 annually Employment Type: Direct Hire Work Arrangement: Hybrid Travel: Up to 50% throughout the Northeast Position Summary Reliance One is seeking a senior, customer-facing Field Application Engineer for one of our top tier clients to help customers select and integrate electronic components into new product designs. The company manufactures sensors, circuit-protection devices, resistors, inductors, transformers, and other components used in automotive, industrial, consumer, telecommunications, medical, aerospace, and defense applications. This role combines electrical engineering, technical consulting, problem-solving, and sales engineering. The Field Application Engineer will work directly with customer engineering teams to understand their applications, recommend appropriate components, resolve technical issues, and secure new design-in opportunities. Key Responsibilities Meet with customer engineering teams throughout the NortheastEvaluate voltage, current, performance, packaging, cost, and regulatory requirementsRecommend electronic components for board-, circuit-, and system-level applicationsReview specifications, schematics, drawings, test results, and application diagramsHelp customers troubleshoot component-selection, integration, and quality concernsSupport design-in opportunities from initial evaluation through production approvalCoordinate samples, custom components, testing, drawings, and technical reportsPartner with sales, distributors, manufacturers’ representatives, Product Management, and EngineeringTrain customers, sales representatives, and distributors on products and applicationsDeliver presentations at customer meetings, trade shows, and technical conferencesTrack customer visits and design-in opportunities in the CRMReport competitive activity, regulatory developments, market changes, and customer needsProvide customer feedback and new-product ideas to Product Management and Engineering Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical EngineeringApproximately five to 10 years of field applications engineering, applications engineering, component sales engineering, or technical sales experienceExperience supporting electronic components at the board, circuit, or system levelAbility to interpret electrical specifications, schematics, technical drawings, and application diagramsDirect experience supporting customer engineering teamsExperience recommending or qualifying components for new product designsStrong technical presentation, consulting, and customer communication skillsAbility to identify and prioritize commercially valuable technical opportunitiesWillingness and ability to travel up to 50%Residence in or reasonable access to the Boston and Northeast marketAbility to travel throughout Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a technically strong electrical engineer who can translate complex customer requirements into practical component solutions. This individual will be comfortable serving as a trusted technical advisor, collaborating across sales and engineering teams, and helping customers move new product designs from component evaluation through production approval.
