Field Application Engineer

About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Field Application Engineer to join our growing team in Fort Collins, CO. You will support all field operations, including internal and external engineering demonstrations, development testing, systems integrations, customer support, trainings, and building relationships with prospective clients. This role involves working with sophisticated customers in the wireless communications industry, such as 3-letter government agencies, federal and local law enforcement, mainstream media outlets, and international commercial companies.

Responsibilities

• Travel to test locations and customer sites to support testing, evaluation, and deployment of the Wave Relay® system.
• Serve as a technical specialist during project execution in deployment and support phases.
• Conduct development testing on new and existing Wave Relay products.
• Create diagrams and documentation for engineering solutions and customer requirements.
• Complete engineering tasks such as defining requirements, supporting design efforts, developing acceptance test plans, and performing data analysis.
• Develop technical expertise in the Wave Relay suite of products.
• Support the sales force in technical analysis and solution design during business development.
• Interpret written customer requirements and technical specification documents.
• Provide technical documentation for suppliers, customers, and internal use.
• Offer technical advice to management on strategic or project issues.
• Monitor the market segment, including key customers and competitors.
• Interact with customers and provide direct technical support.
• Assist customers in integrating other systems, sensors, and components with Wave Relay® systems.
• Conduct onsite and offsite Wave Relay® training courses.
• Participate in meetings for customer employment of Wave Relay® systems.

Requirements

• CompTIA Net+ and Security+ certifications.
• Knowledge of radio frequencies (RFs) and wireless communications.
• Experience working with customers and as part of a remote team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time.
• Must have a United States security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical degree (preferably in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on system integration) or equivalent experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Mobile Ad hoc Networking (MANET).
• Proven experience writing reports and building test plans.
• Experience performing consultative, solutions-based design and implementation for clients.
• Experience conducting training from a formalized lesson plan.
• Experience resolving issues as a customer liaison.
• Experience providing customer feedback, conducting student evaluations, and internal reporting.
• Awareness of the wireless industry and developing communications trends.
• Ability to work under time pressure with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to navigate rough terrain, climb ladders, or work in physically demanding conditions with exposure to extreme temperatures or noise.
• Stamina and endurance for extended periods on your feet, including visiting customer sites, attending trade shows, and conducting demonstrations.
• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods, such as at trade shows, in front of computers, or while writing reports.
• Ability to lift and carry moderate weight (up to 50 pounds), such as equipment, tools, or product samples.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders to access different areas of customer facilities.
• Good hand-eye coordination for setting up equipment, performing demonstrations, troubleshooting, and performing repairs.

Pay

The base pay for this role ranges from $106,000 to $133,000 a year, based on education and experience.
