About the role

As the Fiberline Engineer, you will have overall responsibility for the Unbleached Pulp Mill area within the mill facility, as well as other Fiberline areas. In this position, you will support the Fiberline areas and overall mill goals.

Responsibilities

• Solve process, equipment, and operational failures.
• Assist in maintenance shutdowns, monitor key parameters of the pulping process, and adjust production schedules as needed to support mill performance.
• Use Fiberline Visual Reports to monitor and report key Fiberline KPIs on quality, chemical usage, and environmental standards.
• Maintain, develop, and enhance operator checklists for startup and shutdown of equipment and support SME implementation of new process training systems.
• Drive cost reduction projects and teams.
• Weekend on-call duty and weekly night calls.
• Partner with the safety department to maintain and enforce the safety program for the department and mill, ensuring compliance with OSHA and Smurfit Westrock regulations and guidelines.
• Report safety concerns and incidents.
• Participate in observing the High-Risk Task of the Day (HRTD) and implement the Safety Excellence System.
• Support mill initiatives to drive employee engagement.
• Ensure all employees understand and utilize all safety requirements of job functions, including the use of all required PPE during job tasks.
• Maintain full knowledge of safety requirements and ensure compliance and accountability, including working knowledge of all safety procedures (LOTO, fall protection, confined space entry, hot work, JHA for each position, proper guarding, seat belts, dock locks, etc.).

Work Environment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Preferred: Two years of experience in an industrial setting as an employee or intern.
• Experience working in team settings and alone.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $69,375.00 - $115,625.00, depending on role, level, and location.
