Fiberglass Technician 1

About the role

Performs various skills on varying items including hand laminating, operating a chopper gun, rolling out fiberglass materials, vacuum forming, bonding plastics, grinding fiberglass, removing and repairing materials and surfaces, installing seatbelts, and changing upholstery.

Responsibilities

• Hand laminating, operating a chopper gun, and rolling out fiberglass materials
• Vacuum forming and bonding plastics such as ABS, Kydex, polycarbonate, and plexiglass
• Grinding fiberglass with power hand tools both in shop and on rides
• Removing and repairing various materials and surfaces
• Installing various seatbelts and changing out upholstery
• Fabricating pans from polyester resin and urethane foam
• Preparing patterns and pulling tools or parts
• Assembling and installing fabricated pans

Qualifications

• Four-year experience in fiberglass assembly and polyester resin hand laminating
• Good mechanical skills
• Basic knowledge of plastic materials, adhesives, and fasteners

Skills

• Ability to prepare a pattern and pull a tool or a part
• Ability to assemble and install fabricated pans
• Basic knowledge of plastic materials, adhesive and fasteners

Experience Levels

• Level 1: Applies general skills and some experience
• Level 2: Applies skills and special knowledge with typically 3+ years of experience
• Level 3: Applies full specialized skills and knowledge with 5+ years of experience
• Level 4: Applies expert level of knowledge and skills with 7+ years of experience
