Fiberglass & Gel Coat Technician

About the Role

Fiberglass & Gel Coat Technicians repair fiberglass cosmetic and gel coat damage. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and experience in fiberglass and gel coat work.

Responsibilities

• Identify defects such as cracks, blisters, stress fractures, and cosmetic flaws.
• Prepare fiberglass, resins, and damaged areas for repair.
• Grind out defective areas and smooth rough edges using appropriate power or hand-tools.
• Shape and smooth edges to match contour properly.
• Mix gel coat catalyst and spray or brush repaired surfaces; match colors.
• Buff and polish repaired surfaces.
• Estimate repair times, plan for materials, and coordinate jobs with management.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and time spent on projects.
• Collaborate with team members and provide guidance or support as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to company policies and OSHA standards.
• Stay updated on industry techniques and materials.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a fiberglass specialist.
• Maritime experience preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in gel coat repair.
• Additional training or certifications in marine repair or fiberglass work is preferred.
