Qualifications
- Combination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification or education program
- Experience in installing and repairing fiber optic lines
- Installing new lines above ground on poles or underground and repairing existing lines
- Aerial experience preferred
- Experience with Jetting Fiber
- Excellent manual dexterity and able to see different colors
- Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures
- Proven ability to guide safe work practices in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget
- Experience operating and performing work in a bucket truck, man-lift, etc. (preferred)
- Valid Iowa Driver’s License
- The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet)
- The ability to work with little supervision while following safety policies and procedures, wearing required personal protective equipment, and adding to a safe and positive team environment is a must.
What You Will Be Joining
- Fiber, coax, and copper splicing and activation
- Provide fiber splicing services such as hot cut work, emergency testing, and restoration
- Provide complete Outside Plant Splicing (OSP) and Inside Plant Splicing (ISP) fiber splicing services
- Long Haul Aerial or Underground Entrance Cabinets Distribution Panels New Builds & Extensions System Cutovers Hot Cuts Mid Sheath Laterals Retrofit/Upgrade Splicing Overbuild Full System Splicing Fusion / Mechanical splicing Emergency Restoration Audit Inspection Service / Reel Testing Troubleshoot; Test with OTDR and Power Meter

Work Expectations
- Standard Work Week: Monday-Friday; 7 am – 5 pm; Weekend work may be required with little or no notice; work schedule determined by season, weather, deadlines, and availability of work.
- Travel: at times, the employee may be assigned to a job site where several overnight stays are required
- Environment Conditions: at times will be exposed to various contaminants, like exhausted vapors, gas/diesel fumes, and dust; be subjected to noisy conditions; diverse weather conditions, including high heat (over 90°), freezing conditions (below 15°), and all forms of precipitation (high humidity/snow/rain)
