About the Role
The Fiber Splicer-Outside Plant Construction is responsible for installing, splicing, testing, and documenting outside plant fiber optic facilities. This includes operating fusion splicers, OTDRs, and light testers to ensure quality standards are met. The role involves troubleshooting buried and aerial fiber, repairing cables, and coordinating with construction teams to complete projects on time.
Responsibilities
- Install fiber enclosures, perform splicing and testing
- Identify faults and maintain accurate documentation
- Read and interpret construction plans
- Communicate project updates and support closeout activities
- Maintain equipment and assist Field Services as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 1+ year experience in fiber optic or related telecommunications installation, splicing, and testing, or equivalent military service
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to climb structures, lift up to 50 pounds, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Willingness to work overtime
