Privacy Policy Job Openings Fiber Optics Technician Fiber Field - Phoenix, Arizona Department Fiber Field Employment Type Full-Time Minimum Experience Experienced Compensation $55k - $75 DOE Job Summary Provide field coordination and oversight to fiber /splice crews. This position is responsible for overall safety, materials, reporting, leadership, employee communication, and productivity measures. Responsibilities Review plans and permitsSupervise, train, and develop work crews, provide input and assist crews when needed in operating other equipment and/or assist the laborers out in the fieldMaintain a safe worksite and enforce safe work practices by following company rules and OSHA regulations, leading crew pre-task planning, addressing employee concerns, and hazard abatementTake action to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, fiber, and falling objectsEnsure that materials, equipment, and tools are safely loaded/unloaded, secured to crew vehicles, cleaned and maintained as prescribedInspect company vehicles for proper operating conditions, proper security, and proper stock of materials, both pre- and post-tripReport any maintenance needs or improper operating conditions of crew trucks or equipment to the proper partyCheck work area to ensure it is clean, secure, good housekeeping is being practiced, poses no risk to the public, employees, or the environmentWrite any necessary reports, complete forms, post job related information on computer, find job information on computer as required and directedEnter and submit the crew’s hours of work accurately, ensure timecards are signed by all crew membersPerform safety inspections of crew and equipment, provide feedback, stop any unsafe work (stop work authority), and complete reports as necessary, Near Misses, Incident/Accident Reports, etc.Monitor quality standards of all jobs, including crew performance, and ensure that all quality assurance and company standards are metEnsure adherence to ethics and compliance requirementsPerform a wide variety of manual labor tasks involving dexterous use of hand tools such as pneumatic, electric, and hand toolsWear required PPE Required Skills & Abilities High School diploma or equivalent educationPreferred 2-4yrs of experience in fiber installationPreferred 2-4yrs of Fiber Splicing processPreferred 2-4yrs of Testing Fiber using OTDROSHA 30IMSA certification a plusStrong focus on safety, quality, integrity, accountability, productivity, and teamworkGood communication skills and the ability to manage and interact in a team environmentAbility to read and follow plans, drawings, and directions (verbal and written)Knowledge of street and highway fiber rules and regulations, and safety precautions to be observed in working on or near roads and highwaysAbility to detect unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environmentOSHA, competent person, confined space, and hazard abatement trainingThorough knowledge of safety standards and Underground Facilities Law (Blue Stake, Arizona 811)Knowledge of hand and power toolsMust be able to work safely outdoors in Arizona heat conditions and perform all job duties with no restrictions.Must have flexibility in personal schedule including weekdays and occasional night and weekend workAbility to stand and exert physical effort performing manual labor most of the dayAbility to lift up to 60 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionallyAbility to work in severe weather conditions, including extreme heatValid driver license and clean driving recordAbility to pass pre-employment and random drug testsBilingual English/Spanish a plus Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to: The outdoor elements, subject to variations in temperature and weather conditions, equipment noise, and dustMay be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling Culture Index In addition to submitting your resume, please find 7-8 minutes to complete a simple 2 question survey as part of the overall interview process.
