Fiber Construction Field Inspector

About the role

OSP Field Inspector position located in East Greenbush / Albany, NY, supporting an active 70‑mile underground fiber construction project. The role involves field oversight of construction crews, tracking daily production and overall progress, monitoring job sites for safety concerns, serving as the local point of contact for residents, contractors, and town representatives, communicating updates to the project team, and assisting with miscellaneous field needs such as retrieving permits. This is a contract, fully on‑site position. The position is anticipated to close on Oct 12, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Follow and monitor OSP construction crews in the field
• Track daily construction production and overall project progress
• Monitor job sites and identify potential safety concerns
• Communicate field updates, issues, and concerns back to the project team
• Serve as a professional on‑site representative during construction
• Speak with residents regarding construction questions or concerns
• Coordinate and communicate with municipal and town representatives
• Escalate construction issues when necessary
• Assist with miscellaneous field needs, including retrieving permits when needed

Qualifications

• General understanding of OSP telecom or fiber construction
• Underground construction experience strongly preferred
• 1‑3+ years of telecom, utility, or construction experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable speaking directly with residents, contractors, and municipalities
