Fertilizer Crew Leader

About the role

The Fertilizer Crew Leader is an experienced industry professional proficient in all aspects of fertilization, weed control, and lawn care services for residential and commercial markets. The main objective is to perform all lawn care applications and functions to maintain proper turf health per the standards and research provided by the University of Nebraska Lincoln Extension Office. The role requires minimal supervision, safe work practices, and adherence to company core values. The position reports to the lawn maintenance field manager, works closely with lawn mowing crews, irrigation team, supply yard team, mechanic, and operations manager, and may direct one employee during spring and fall. A uniform dress code is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all lawn care applications and functions.
• Keep an organized inventory, truck, and professional appearance at all times.
• Fill in on mowing and enhancement teams as needed.
• Operate a snowplow and truck during the snow removal season.
• Interact, communicate, and educate clientele on best practices.
• Enter daily information into production mobile tracking software.
• Ensure each job is kept on time and on budget while providing exceptional service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience of lawn chemical/fert application that includes operation of walk‑behind and ride‑on spreaders and aerators.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience operating commercial lawn mowing, trimming, and blowing equipment.
• Nebraska Pesticide Applicators license
