About the Role
The Site Safety Coordinator will provide safety coverage in the field and coordinate with subcontractors and their safety personnel. This role assists the Site Safety Manager in managing the site safety program, ensuring compliance with company policies, federal/state guidelines, and fostering a "Safety First" attitude across the project.
Responsibilities
- Spend 75% of time in the field evaluating workers and performing walkthroughs to identify safety hazards; report observations into the online Safety Management System (SMS).
- Assist in incident investigations and document incidents in the SMS.
- Maintain a "Safety First" attitude throughout the project for all levels of management and operations.
- Manage inventories of safety supplies and report weekly to the Safety Manager.
- Submit daily reports of all safety activities to the Safety Manager.
- Assist in presenting safety information during All Hands Meetings.
- Participate in site safety committees.
- Ensure compliance with corporate, project-specific, OSHA, state, and local safety standards.
- Work with field supervision to implement complex safety aspects, including lifting plans, traffic control, and work plans.
- Assist with the selection, training, development, and appraisal of project safety plans and processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the owner or owner’s representative and Ferrovial Webber Energy personnel.
- Read, understand, and plan according to work specifications and contract responsibilities.
- Anticipate project conflicts, communicate preventative action plans, and implement approved solutions.
- Assist with planning work according to project plans and oversee subcontractors.
- Monitor and report safety incidents.
- Assist with site orientation for workers and visitors.
- Perform other unlisted duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of safety experience in the construction industry.
- 3+ years of experience in Renewable Generation Projects (Solar or Wind Farms).
- OSHA 510 and NFPA 70E certifications valued but not required.
- Valid driver’s license for frequent travel.
- Bilingual English/Spanish valued but not required.
- Moderate physical activity, including exposure to outdoor weather conditions and maneuvering minor obstacles at construction sites.
- Manual dexterity to handle items and work with fingers.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
