Job Description / Essential Elements
DEFINITION: Receives general supervision from the Welder/Fabricator Supervisor to perform specialized tasks in fence installation and repair; perform general maintenance; work with skilled trades in a variety of jobs; fence installation and maintenance work; and perform duties as assigned.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: (Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below (E). This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification but is intended to accurately reflect the principle job elements.)
- Perform basic building and maintenance tasks in fencing, basic carpentry and surface work.
- Install and maintain a variety of playground equipment.
- Use a variety of general maintenance tools and equipment.
- Aid with planning, layout and cost estimation.
- Perform light welding work.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance in the work place.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- A variety of utility maintenance procedures performed at a school district
- A variety of skilled fence installation and repair techniques in building maintenance.
- The function and purpose of a variety of equipment and tools used in construction and maintenance.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Perform skilled trades work in basic carpentry, or other maintenance areas.
- Understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Assist with overseeing the work of and providing training to workers.
- Physical capability sufficient to perform job tasks.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Carry out oral and written directions; write and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill the duties to be performed for the position described.
ABILITY TO:
Education and Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to three years journey level experience in fence installation and maintenance.
