About the role
The Feeney Lab at UCSF (ZSFG campus) seeks a highly motivated Specialist to work as part of a research collaboration investigating the immune response to childhood malaria in Uganda. The successful candidate will contribute to hypothesis-driven research projects using cutting edge immunologic techniques under close mentorship from the PI.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to team-oriented lab work using spectral flow cytometry, cell culture, PCR, and high throughput proteomic platforms.
- Prepare and maintain lab reagents, culture media, and parasite lines.
- Contribute to the preparation of research manuscripts for publication.
- Undertake independent research projects.
- Train in relevant data analysis techniques.
- Contribute to oral and written communication skills and teamwork.
Requirements
- Junior Specialist: Must have or in process of obtaining a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience.
- Assistant Specialist: Must have or in process of obtaining a master’s degree or a baccalaureate degree with 3 or more years of research experience.
- Associate Specialist: Must have or in process of obtaining a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
- Full Specialist: Must have or in process of obtaining a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization.
Qualifications
- High-parameter flow cytometry.
- Basic molecular techniques such as PCR and ELISA.
- Cell culture.
- Data management.
- Basic statistical analysis.
- Superb oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well as a member of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with spectral flow cytometry.
- Experience with R and STATA programming.
- Experience with single cell sequencing platforms and data analysis.
- Master's degree or equivalent experience.
Benefits
Salary range for this position is $55,000-$194,800. A reasonable estimate for this position is $55,000-$194,800.
