About the Role

This is an entry-level position. The Feeder/Packer is responsible for feeding or packing cartons, palletizing cases, and following leadership directives safely. Duties may extend beyond those listed based on management assignments.

Responsibilities

• Feed handfuls of cartons and inspect quality before placing stacks in the gluer feed.
• Erect corrugated cases, pack cartons, inspect for quality, and follow specified packing instructions.
• Palletize cases according to work instructions and pallet diagrams.
• Review and confirm incoming materials match production order specifications, including batch tags, corrugated, pads, cello, labels, or other special materials.
• Report discrepancies immediately to crew, department leadership, or Quality Control (QC).
• Operate electric pallet jacks safely to move work-in-progress (WIP) or finished pallets.
• Lift and place cases on pallets while keeping the palletizing loop clear.
• Restock materials for following crews, including making lids, stocking corrugated, and keeping tables supplied with tape.
• Correctly tag leftover materials (corrugated, pads, cello) for restocking in the warehouse.
• Maintain cleanliness of the area by removing stray cartons, sweeping, etc., during make-ready or after production runs.
• Assist with troubleshooting when issues arise.
• Support and develop Lean initiatives (5S, TPM, Daily Management).
• Perform other organizational duties as required.
• Follow all Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, including reporting unsafe conditions or customer complaints to authority figures.
• Participate in SQF root cause and corrective actions as required.

Work Environment

The role involves working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to dust, heat, cold, vibration, and potential work hazards. The noise level is usually loud, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. This is a union environment, and employees must be willing to work all shifts.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• Computer literacy.
• Mechanical and communication skills.
• Good attendance record.
• Ability to guide teams/processes and work independently.

Physical Requirements

• Standing for 8 to 12 hours per shift with minimal lower body movement (except during breaks and lunch).
• Visual acuity at short distances to detect variances in job numbers, register, and bleeder marks.
• Color vision to detect inappropriate product color.
• Good eye/hand coordination to match machine pace.
• Ability to lift 25-35 lb. boxes continuously and 50 lbs. occasionally (team lifting required for heavier weights).
• Occasional climbing, stooping, bending, and overhead reaching.
• Fine hand manipulation, grasping, and gripping.
