Feed Mill Tech

About the role

Perform basic functions to ensure efficient daily operations of the Feed Mill.

Responsibilities

• Mixing and loading poultry feed for delivery to multiple farm locations.
• Apply knowledge of SQF and Safe Food/Safe Feed practices during all mill activities.
• Receiving and maintenance of ingredient inventories.
• Preventative maintenance and repair of mill and related equipment.
• Maintaining a clean, safe mill environment.
• Provide back‑up support to the Mill Manager as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Agricultural experience is preferred.
• Prior experience in a feed mill is preferred.
• Training in preventative maintenance programs, mechanical and electrical systems desirable.

Skills

• Good communication skills with a teamwork attitude.
• Self‑motivation with a drive for safe, quality feed.
• Computer skills: Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Mathematical ability.
• Knowledge of production agriculture desirable.

Physical Demands

Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 60 lb frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 lb occasionally. Must be able to climb up to 150 ft by ladder.

Work Environment

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. May work outdoors where temperatures vary seasonally. Clothing must be appropriate for seasonal weather conditions. Noise level is usually moderate; certain areas may be loud enough to require ear protection. All personal protective equipment will be provided and required in specific conditions and areas. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places.
